BWFWAVrename is an ongoing project to help us see usable audio track information on our timelines when using Avid Media Composer.
Currently it is not possible to see track names on the timeline. This tool will rename audio tracks (recorded in the BWF WAVE broadcast format), using the metadata to add the track name to the filename. Then when the files are imported into Media Composer, the track information can be visible on the timeline.
The tool also deals with ‘polywav’ files (many audio tracks embedded into a single file) by splitting them into individual files, each with the track name added into the filename.
The project is written in python, but is available as a windows executable and a mac app. Both function the same.

(please note, there is a bug with Apple’s python integration in OS X Mojave (10.14.x) that will cause a crash back to the log on screen. Apparently apple fixed this in Catalina and above)
