BWFWAVrename
BWFWAVrename is an ongoing project to help us see usable audio track information on our timelines when using Avid Media Composer.
Typically any polywav or xml labelled audio arrives in Media Composer with limited data visible. There’s no way to identify the track name on the timeline. Editors either need to maintain consistent track placement throughout the edit or spend valuable edit time soloing and switching waveforms on/off hunting for the relevant track.
Prior to ingest, the polywav or individual wav files can be run through BWFWAVrename to add the XML track name to the file name such that it’s now readily visible throughout the edit.
Now at any point in the edit, with multiple scenes and multiple variations of contributor, it’s immediately obvious where to look for audio.
Please note that the software is distributed without warranty and has had limited testing, but please do get in touch if you’re having trouble with it or if it’s been useful to you.
